Traveler by Trail

imageIMG_0430Pic king up from last post, when I left Big Bear, I got caught in a weird Thunder/ lightening/ snow storm. All at the same time while I was up on a mountain. At first the snow was real cool ( actually really cold) but as soon as the thunder and lightening started it got serious real quick. I actually ran for a couple miles, yelling every time lightening struck near me. Yep my backpack is actually light enough to run if I really want to. Which has been making by 35-40 miles per day the past week more do able.

I’ve seen way to many rattle snakes for my liking.

Even though this trail’s terrain is more gradual the diversity is mind blowing. Going from 9, 000 feet in snow to desert floor in 95 degree weather the next day is crazy!!

The journal down below in a picture dates back to the 70’s. I was honored to sign below the past thru hikers!

imageA few crazy thing have happened like trail magic and water caches so a huge thanks to all the Trail Angels! It would be impossible with out your help. (Fast forward to today, I went through a 45 mile waterless stretch. Ya. No water. Super lucky to stumble upon 2 water caches in between that made things way easier)

A couple days ago I was having a rough morning moving slow from the lack of calories. Then I turn the corner and a rally car flys by me. This is where I meet my new friend Brian! I wait with him watching all the cars go by covering us in dust learning about the race. Also he has the best beard I’ve seen on the trail so far. Great work Brian!

Even though 95 seems very hot (which it is) in a couple weeks the word on the trail says it could hit 115 easily…. So I’m happy to say I have LEFT THE DESERT FOR GOOD!!

In a few days I will be at Kennedy Meadows looking into the Sierras!! It is only gets better from here. So great ready for some mind blowing pictures!! The John Muir Trail, Mt. Whitney, Red Woods and Yosemite Valley are so close!!!
