Travel on a green card

With proper documentation, most lawful permanent residents (that is, individuals with a US green card) are able to travel internationally. Of course immigration law varies between countries, but either a passport from your home country or your refugee documents, as well as any visas your destination requires, are typically enough to enter the country or countries you wish to visit. However, US immigration law also requires a valid green card in order to come back into the country, and potentially some further documentation (such as Form I-131 or even an SB-1 visa, depending on the length and nature of your trip). Please feel free to contact a Seattle Law Group immigration attorney to learn more about immigration law concerning foreign travel for green card holders, and to discuss how best to ensure straightforward reentry into the United States.
